Throughout this semester of English-1A class, I have improved a lot on my writing. In this class we have done a lot of class discussion, canvas discussion, and exchange our draft with classmates. In any of my writing or speech classes we never exchanged our drafts. I never revise or proof read my essays nor do I have habit of reading outside of class. Eng-1A is the first which had made me interested into reading. Doing a peer review in class was most helpful part for me. Because not only I get feedback, I learned to how to figure out mistakes and give feedbacks on other people’s work. I have always tried to improve my mistakes on my paper from my peers’ feedback, and also by going to writing center.

Now I always proofread, and review my drafts before I turn them in. I have always enjoyed writing, and in this class we did a lot of writing such as research papers, blogs, and online discussion. I have technically have to spend a lot of time while writing a paper because of silly grammar errors, and sentence fragments. As in english-1A class all the assignments are based on writing, however, in this class, I have improved my skills in reading and writing and acquire more skills in: close-reading, synthesis of texts, intertextuality, and more. By the end of the semester, I am able to transfer the skills learned in this class to my other classes.

It was tough semester math-7a, chem-22, and eng-1A class. Our papers were very literature based such as rhetorical analysis, literary analysis, character analysis, and research paper. The only difference in research paper was citation was required. In text citation was my weakest part while writing this paper, the only fear was the wrong citation leads to plagiarism. During this paper I did make the mistake which I had fear of, but person always learns from their mistakes and so did I.

In addition to writing I enjoyed writing rhetorical analysis in class paper. It was actually fun to write because I fully understand it, and also the topic on critical thinking. Critical thinking is the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment. In rhetorical writing the major purpose of the writer is to be known, and who is the primary audience of paper. This paper also requires us to use the rhetorical strategies such as tone in writing, vocabulary choice, sentences, voice, and many more. I did understand all this, but during exam there is always little bit of nervousness and because of that mistakes happens. The most important thing I learned is that English subject is not boring. I never liked English class until I was senior in high school, and Eng-1A class was fun class, enjoyed learning, gained knowledge, and all the skills required for the next Eng. Class and other classes too such as psychology, sociology, humanities etc. Not only learning something in English but also taking a lot of memorable moments and enjoyable times from this class.
